Mark you calendar and join us for our Virtual Classically Cuban Concert featuring renowned Cuban-American pianist Enrique Chia.
The Cuban Research Institute is pleased to announce the 16th installment of its concert series, devoted to the preservation and dissemination of Cuba's rich and diverse musical heritage. This year's program will feature the renowned Cuban-American pianist Enrique Chia and will be entitled An Hour Remembering Our Music from My Living Room. For this concert, Dr. Chia will perform a selection from his extensive repertoire of various genres of Cuban music, from habaneras and criollas, to boleros, guajiras, and more danceable rhythms.
Born in Cienfuegos, Cuba, Enrique Chia is an accomplished and prolific recording artist whose unique and organic playing style is rooted in teh grand pre-revolutionary musical traditions of Cuba, as well as in the Great American Songbook and sophisticated pop of his adopted homeland. He has released over forty recordings that have sold remarkably well across the Americas, including Mexico and the caribbean, and have provided the framework for his stirring, always sold-out live performances. His recordings include the 2001 Grammy Award-nominated The Music fo Ernesto Lecuona, the 2008 Emmy Award-winning La Cuba Eterna, and the 2018 album Piano under the Stars at Vizcaya.
